Cork or Screwcap? That is the question

posted on 11 February 2015
I would like to have your opinion on the use of the screw cap, we are considering using it on our other wines after the happy experience with the Rosanoire 2013 e 2014. Our considerations are these:
  • better product retention and freshness
  • practicality and cost-effectiveness for users of the “screw-unscrew” opening certainly greater than for traditional closures
  • low environmental impact, recyclability of the cork and saving cork oak forests that have been depleted in recent years by uncontrolled decortication
  • drastic reduction of sulphites added at bottling for the benefit of the integrity and respect of the wine and the health of consumers
  • end of all those annoying organoleptic alterations due in some way to corks
Your opinion on this is very much appreciated, as we would possibly intend to deploy it soon on the Valtènesi 2014 e Rinè 2014... Technically there would be no problem, indeed, but what do you think? Email us at info@cantrina.it.

Perfumes

Spring is in its prime and I like to give you a little glimpse of the vineyard at this season. As you can see from the photographs, the vines are already in full bloom and, something that we in the industry take somewhat for granted, I wonder how many people have ever noticed the rare beauty of the flowering vines and thus paused to admire them.

After Vinitaly

After a break of a few years, I returned to Vinitaly, at the Consorzio Valtènesi stand. I must say that I did this without a commercial approach, I made an investment in terms of public relations and networking. Practically my entire network of relations in the sector is there, so it was a good opportunity to catch up and strengthen the relationship.

Back from Prowein

I have just returned from Prowein, which was a good experience: I will measure the commercial results over time, but in terms of contacts and quality of contacts it was a success. The protagonist was Groppello, but it was the pacesetter for the other wines. Now to work in Cantrina!
