After Vinitaly

posted on 14 April 2014
After Vinitaly After a break of a few years, I returned to Vinitaly, on the stand of the Valtènesi Consortium. I must say that I did this without a commercial approach, I made an investment in terms of public relations and networking. Practically my entire network of relations in the sector is there, so it was a good opportunity to catch up and strengthen the relationship. However, I still think that Vinitaly is not the right event for very small niche companies like mine. On the contrary, when participation is organised by a consortium, it becomes interesting to be there, because the territory is of greater value than the individual company. Unfortunately, as I mentioned in previous years, Vinitaly increasingly has the air of an unprofessional fair and the people who crowd it are mostly organised groups of “party-goers”. It becomes difficult for operators to breathe, walk and work (even to connect and phone, at times). When it comes down to this, one has to wonder whether it is worth constantly lining the pockets of the Verona Trade Fair Authority. Instead, let us gather in a city square and give it the appearance it has taken on for good: a festival. Let's do the business in a more suitable location!

Riné

We’d like to talk to you a bit about our Riné. Although it has changed over the years, we conceived Cantrina’s white wine--our distinctive blend of Riesling and Chardonnay, and a bit of other white varieties we grow here in our estate vineyards--as one that would evolve and mature with cellaring, offering its best even many years after bottling. We noticed, though, in the few years, that we were often forced to sell Riné too soon, and thus offering our customers a wine that was still inexpressive and therefore not fully appreciated for what it really was.

Scents of Must
We are joining the Profumi di Mosto 2020 edition on October, 11th. Cantrina's wines will be matched with Pietro Freddi's special pizzas, which will be prepared on the spot from his Pizza-Van. This edition will be a bridge between the just-ended summertime and 2021 events. Profumi di Mosto will also host twenty wineries, where rose wines and Valtènesi red wines will be protagonists.
