After Vinitaly
posted on 14 April 2014After Vinitaly
After a break of a few years, I returned to Vinitaly, on the stand of the Valtènesi Consortium. I must say that I did this without a commercial approach, I made an investment in terms of public relations and networking. Practically my entire network of relations in the sector is there, so it was a good opportunity to catch up and strengthen the relationship.
However, I still think that Vinitaly is not the right event for very small niche companies like mine. On the contrary, when participation is organised by a consortium, it becomes interesting to be there, because the territory is of greater value than the individual company. Unfortunately, as I mentioned in previous years, Vinitaly increasingly has the air of an unprofessional fair and the people who crowd it are mostly organised groups of “party-goers”. It becomes difficult for operators to breathe, walk and work (even to connect and phone, at times).
When it comes down to this, one has to wonder whether it is worth constantly lining the pockets of the Verona Trade Fair Authority. Instead, let us gather in a city square and give it the appearance it has taken on for good: a festival.
Let's do the business in a more suitable location!
