About Wine - My Wine Professional

Chi è del Vino describes Azienda Agricola Cantrina in an article, here are the most important points: (...) Her first love was art then, to continue her husband's work, she dedicated herself completely to wine. My two little pests, Lorenzo and Tommaso, move naturally into this world, they grow into it. The way I got into it, on the other hand, is very different». First the Academy of Fine Arts, then a diploma as a set designer: Cristina Inganni's first love was art, that for wine only came later. «My first husband, Dario Dattoli, had founded this winery in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was he who initiated me into this world». Although she began to approach wine by marriage, Cristina continued to work in the artistic field, as an interior decorator, until, in 1998, her life received a sudden jolt. «My husband passed away suddenly during the summer, just before the grape harvest,» Cristina recalls. «At that point, I decided to quit my job and dedicate myself completely to the business. Initially, I did it out of pure affection, for the memory of my husband. Then passion took over and, now, after so much effort, I am beginning to have my first satisfactions». Cristina, however, has not abandoned her love for art, so much so that she personally decorated the ageing cellar. «The structure is new, made of concrete, very practical. So I preferred to avoid the rustic decorations and instead used burgundy and yellow ochre glazes, which make it look like a museum. To tell the truth, we also host some exhibitions of contemporary artists from time to time,» he confides. (...) (...) Fortunately, she is not alone in running the company. Diego Lavo, her second husband, helps her a lot in her work, also taking care of the cellar. «He is an agricultural expert and also owns a company that plants vineyards. His help is crucial,» Cristina says proudly.

(...) Groppello, a red wine for fish and aperitifs. Cristina Inganni never imagined that she would become a winemaker while attending the Brera Academy in Milan, nor that she would come to live in Cantrina, a small hamlet in the municipality of Bedizzole whose profile dominates the vineyards. She did so to carry on the dream of her first husband, who died prematurely, who had planted the first vines (now nine hectares) of the Azienda Agricola Cantrina, inspired by French production and maintaining a radical idea of absolute quality. Cristina carries it on today together with Diego Lavo, her partner and second husband. Their Riviera del Garda Classico Groppello DOC (13 €) is a wine that enhances the terroir: gentle and sinuous, it is also appreciated with fish. In summer it becomes a cool aperitif.
