IGT Benaco Bresciano Rosanoire - Cantrina 2013 - Il cucchiaio d'argento

(...) Even the very special label, with its intersection of hand-drawn geometric designs, the name of the wine, Rosanoire, written in block letters in the bottom right-hand corner, and a name, Cristina Inganni, starting with the final e and rising perpendicularly, makes it clear that this rosé has all the hallmarks of heterogeneity. One only has to find out about the winery, which is called Cantrina, the name of the small hamlet in the rural village of Bedizzole, western offshoot of the morainic hills that surround the Brescia side of Lake Garda, to immediately discover that making wine, for Cristina Inganni (the Cristina of the label mentioned above) and Diego Lavo, is nothing other than a “free exercise in style”. Which translates into the wine labels, edited by Cristina, who is very busy not only in her own cellar, but in the Valtènesi Consortium, in the association Women of Wine, in the’Independent Winegrowers Association, but above all in their particular stylistics, in their desire to convey “the character of the territory of origin and of the people who make it”, and to give the wines an absolutely creative and consequently unique imprint. Of course, Cristina and Diego have also been making an excellent Garda Classico for some years now, using the historic grape of their area, Groppello, but their “exercises in style” are the expression of a strictly family-run production reality, active since 1999, which counts on a little less than 6 hectares of land on hills of morainic origin in two different plots for a total of 33 thousand vine stocks, are rather called Riné, a cuvée of Riesling, Chardonnay and Incrocio Manzoni, or Zerdì, which is a Rebo in purity, or Nepomuceno, a reasoned mix of Merlot Rebo and Marzemino. (...) (...) And on the palate, rich in character, fresh, juicy, savoury and just the right amount of roundness, with a wonderful balance between sweetness of fruit, freshness and acid backbone, very pleasant and persistent, perfect in combination with the fish dishes of the magnificent Garda area, whose proximity gives the wine a very special style. And makes it a perfectly successful “exercise in style”. (...) Read the full article.

Cantrina is a tiny rural hamlet in the municipality of Bedizzole, in the Brescia hinterland of Lake Garda. But it is also the name of the beautiful winery of Cristina Inganni and Diego Lavo, founded in 1999. (...) The range of labels offered by the Cantrina company has naturalness, integrity and respect for the land as its common thread. The Riviera del Garda Classico Groppello '23, which we awarded for the best value for money in the region in the Gambero Rosso's Berebene 2025 guide, is also a spokesman for these demands.

Food and wine stories
The name of the winery is borrowed from “a tiny rural village of Valtènesi located in the municipality of Bedizzole, in the Brescia hinterland of Lake Garda in Lombardy”. In fact, it is in Cantrina that Cristina Inganni and Diego Lavo live and work, the founders of this small, strictly family-run company with just under 8 hectares of land to cultivate ’on the hills of morainic origin in three different plots for a total of 45 thousand vine stocks“.

Bengodii - of culture and other pleasures
In particular, this one from Cantrina winery, a company from Bedizzole (BS), is a very simple pink, as if just blooming, very faint, a watercoloured carmine. It somehow announces the barely suffused scents of small, ripening red fruits, slow notes of fresh flowers and embraces some very evanescent scents that briefly touch me. This is a pink Valtènesi, made only from Groppello grapes.
