From stage sets to barriques. The unique wines “designed” by Cristina - Corriere della Sera

(...) “The first steps saw interpreters not of local grapes but of international varieties: merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay, semillon. With the terroir to make them unique, different from those produced elsewhere, and this obligatory choice, here as much an oxymoron as it is intriguing, will prove propaedeutic for the current evolution of Cantrina wines. Over the years Nepomuceno, the company's most awarded and best known product, will see rebo and marzemino grapes appear alongside merlot, playing more on elegance than on power. In the Rinè, the only great white, the Rhine Riesling, which is at home here, will take over from the Chardonnay and the Rosanoire, born under the banner of Libero Esercizio di Stile - the small, in-quantity experiments summarising the winery's philosophy - will become a fixed proposal, exploiting the long experience accumulated with Pinot Noir. The creativity, the game, does not stop, however: the micro-winemaking, no more than a thousand bottles at a time, continues, always dressed with labels specially designed, needless to say by whom.” (...)

Valtènesi and Benaco Bresciano - Cantrina It is wonderful to arrive at the winery during the grape harvest. The green leaves, the full bunches of grapes, the vineyards covered in herbs and the warm summer sun. It was an incredible experience, not only for the territory, but also to get to know the personality of Cantrina.

Manhattan and Boston toast with Cantrina's signature Valtènesi: the Bedizzole winery recently signed an agreement that brought its share of US sales to 60% of total business 2024 exports. We have re-established contact with an importer we have known for 25 years, but who has changed strategy by concentrating on very small companies able to offer products from indigenous grape varieties.

Cantrina is a tiny rural hamlet in the municipality of Bedizzole, in the Brescia hinterland of Lake Garda. But it is also the name of the beautiful winery of Cristina Inganni and Diego Lavo, founded in 1999. (...) The range of labels offered by the Cantrina company has naturalness, integrity and respect for the land as its common thread. The Riviera del Garda Classico Groppello '23, which we awarded for the best value for money in the region in the Gambero Rosso's Berebene 2025 guide, is also a spokesman for these demands.
