Cantrina: the first twenty years - Lavinium

We have known Cristina Inganni for many years, practically since the beginning of her adventure in the world of wine; she had been introduced to us by a producer friend in Lugana and so we were able to taste her wines several times over the years. Later we also met Diego Lavo, who later became co-owner of the Cantrina winery. Cantrina is a small hamlet in the municipality of Bedizzole. It was here in 1999 that Cristina Inganni decided to carry on the dream of her husband Dario Dattoli, a Brescian restaurateur - who had died in an accident the year before - who was passionate about French wines, and had planted some ten years earlier some vines for the production of wines to be consumed in his own premises. Diego Lavo, who had a company specialising in planting vineyards, came to her aid in this venture. Thus were born the first three wines, marketed from the 1999 vintage. (...) Continue reading.

Cantrina triumphs again at Aldeno and opens up to the «autochthonous»: the Bedizzole winery, managed by Cristina Inganni with her husband Diego Lavo, won for the third consecutive time the title of «best IGT label of previous vintages» at the Mostra dei Merlot d'Italia in Aldeno (Tn), an increasingly prestigious event dedicated exclusively to this prestigious grape variety. The award went to «Nepomuceno 2004», the flagship label of this small winery that for years has been distinguishing itself for a very special approach to the viticulture of the area, focused above all on the nuances and characteristics that the unique Valtenesi terroir can offer to the «repertoire» of great international wines.

Second participation and second victory: Nepomuceno from Cantrina, a small winery run by Cristina Inganni with her husband Diego Lavo in Bedizzole, in the Brescian hinterland of Lake Garda, has once again asserted itself in the competition of the greatest Merlots of Italy. With the success obtained with the Benaco Bresciano Nepomuceno 2003 at the fifth edition of the national exhibition of the Merlot d'Italia of Aldeno, in the Province of Trento,Cantrina has repeated the prestigious result already obtained two years ago with the 2001 vintage, imposing itself in the category of Merlot Igt of the vintages prior to 2005.

A memorable tasting in Trento - Civiltà del bere

From volcanoes to glacial moraine with Nepomuceno, Merlot IGT Benaco Bresciano 2003 from the Cantrina winery in Bedizzole (Brescia) where only international grape varieties are cultivated. Diego Lavo, owner with his wife Cristina Inganni, emphasised the importance of precisely this type of soil squeezed between fluvial and glacial deposits that characterises their Merlot. The vintage was perfect because an unexpected hailstorm in June had destroyed the 70% of grapes. This forced thinning, which we, lucidly, would never have had the courage to do, allowed the grapes to ripen excellently, rich in glycerine and alcohol
