Cantrina: the first twenty years - Lavinium

We have known Cristina Inganni for many years, practically since the beginning of her adventure in the world of wine; she had been introduced to us by a producer friend in Lugana and so we were able to taste her wines several times over the years. Later we also met Diego Lavo, who later became co-owner of the Cantrina winery. Cantrina is a small hamlet in the municipality of Bedizzole. It was here in 1999 that Cristina Inganni decided to carry on the dream of her husband Dario Dattoli, a Brescian restaurateur - who had died in an accident the year before - who was passionate about French wines, and had planted some ten years earlier some vines for the production of wines to be consumed in his own premises. Diego Lavo, who had a company specialising in planting vineyards, came to her aid in this venture. Thus were born the first three wines, marketed from the 1999 vintage. (...) Continue reading.

Exercise in Style - Golf for Passion

Cantrina, the village of Valtenesi, gives its name to the winery where Cristina Inganni and Diego Lavo work in the vineyard and cellar, convinced that wine must express personality, uniqueness and be able to speak of its territory of origin. The soils on which the winery is located yield structured wines with good alcohol content, good minerality and high acidity. Long-lived wines that are born with natural respect for the interaction between soil and vineyard. Cantrina (www.cantrina.it) is dedicated to the production of medium to long ageing wines, mostly breaking away from the production specifications of local DOC wines to obtain greater freedom of action on cellar choices, which also vary according to the vintage. The only exception is the recently introduced Groppello, a fair homage to the area's typical grape variety.

Venue: Azienda Agricola Cantrina - Patricia Guy

“Venue: Azienda Agricola Cantrina (near the hamlet of Cantrina, which is near Lake Garda) I am giving two producers, a winemaking student and the representative from the Local Wine Roads association a final lesson in speaking about wine in English. Cristina, the owner of the estate, is a vivacious and attractive young woman. She had been an interior designer up until the death of her first husband. She then decided to take over and run the business. “I like wines with strong personalities,” she says. She designed the logo for the company, which is used on most labels - a sun surrounded by undulating rays of light. “My husband was from the South of Italy,” she says. “Where there is a lot of sun. So I chose to make the logo as a remembrance of him.”

Cristina and Cantrina, the beauties of Valtènesi - Occidente Gardesano

We like to approach work in the vineyard and in the cellar as a ”free exercise of style...”, therefore free of preconceptions and conditioning, but with the utmost respect for the peculiarities that nature bestows on the fruit of our vineyards. Words and music by Cristina Inganni and Diego Lavo, owners of one of the most beautiful oenological realities of the Valtènesi (strictly with an accent). La Cantrina as we call it, is a small winery founded in the early 1990s, located in a small village (Cantrina precisely) in the municipality of Bedizzole. The company covers about 6 hectares and has a total production of 20 thousand bottles. The vineyards enjoy a very favourable microclimate and soil, sunshine and good temperature ranges favour the ripening of the grapes, while the morainic soils manage to give the wines structure and freshness at the same time.”
